Kootenay Pedorthic Clinic - Custom Orthotics and Expert Foot Care to Support Your Every Step
Providing trusted foot care, custom orthotics, bracing, and footwear solutions to Nelson, BC & Kootenay communities for over 30 years.
Legacy of Foot Care, Orthotics & Community Support
The Kootenay Pedorthic Clinic is Nelson, BC's dedicated foot care and orthotics clinic, providing custom orthotics, foot and lower-limb assessments, and bracing for patients across Nelson, Castlegar, Trail, Kaslo, and the Slocan Valley. The clinic is owned and led by Logan Jacobs, a Certified Pedorthist and Certified Athletic Therapist raised in Kaslo and Nelson, who earned his Diploma in Pedorthics from Western University with distinction.
The clinic's roots go back over 30 years to Vince DeVito, who — after hearing from his footwear customers about their struggles with foot pain — became a Certified Pedorthist himself and built a foot care and orthotics practice alongside his shoe store. That practice grew into what's now Kootenay Pedorthic Clinic. Logan was personally mentored by Vince and gained hands-on experience working alongside him before taking over the clinic in 2025 — and he carries that same standard of care forward today.
At Kootenay Pedorthic Clinic, we're passionate about how footwear, pedorthics, and orthotics complement one another. Our orthotics are designed to correct abnormal foot motion, improve alignment, and relieve pressure on painful or sensitive areas, offering increased support, stability, and proprioception — helping you move more comfortably and confidently with every step. We remain the clinical side of that legacy, working closely alongside DeVito's Shoes next door, as well as physiotherapists, GPs, and other regional specialists, as part of your broader care. We're comfortable working with complex or long-standing foot and lower-limb problems — if your pain has stuck around for a while, a full assessment is a good place to start.
Our Services
-
Our custom orthotics provide targeted support and alignment to relieve foot pain, improve function, and help treat a wide range of lower limb conditions — including plantar fasciitis, metatarsalgia, bunions, arthritis, diabetic neuropathy, and high or flat arches.
Each orthotic is created from a precise 3D physical cast of your foot, designed with your unique biomechanics in mind. Whether you're managing chronic discomfort or recovering from injury, our orthotics are built to restore comfort, improve stability, and help you move with confidence.
We don't just build a device and send you on your way. Custom orthotics from Kootenay Pedorthic Clinic come with follow-up adjustments during the break-in period and ongoing check-ups as they age — so your orthotics keep working for you over the years, not just the first few months.
-
We offer high-quality custom and off-the-shelf foot, ankle, and knee bracing solutions at our clinic. Aimed to enhance stability, reduce pain, and support healing from injuries or chronic conditions Whether you need extra reinforcement for daily movement or athletic performance, we’ll guide you toward the best fit for your needs.
-
The right footwear can make all the difference in your comfort and mobility. Our team provides expert guidance on supportive and/or orthopedic footwear with the perfect fit that aligns with your foot health needs—ensuring long term relief and function.
-
Our orthotics are built to last, with easy repair and restoration options to keep you comfortable for the long haul—even older orthotics can be rebuilt to maximize their longevity. Repairs are our speciality, so orthotic repairs and adjustments can even be completed while you wait during your visit.
-
For those with hard-to-fit feet or lower limb abnormalities, we offer specialized modifications to improve balance, support, and mobility. From leg length discrepancy lifts and buttresses to rocker soles and stiffening plates, our custom adjustments help you walk with greater ease and confidence.
-
In exceptional circumstances where standard footwear and modifications aren’t enough, we can provide custom footwear to address the most complex foot conditions and shapes. These custom and medical footwear solutions are designed to provide comfort and support, tailored to your needs.

Our Process
Step 1: Health History & Assessment
We start with a thorough review of your health history and conduct an in-depth assessment of your lower limb health, including range of motion tests and gait analysis.
Step 2: Personalized Treatment Plan
Based on our findings, we discuss how we can help and present potential treatment options tailored to your unique needs.
Step 3: On-the-Spot Solutions & Orthotic Fittings
Treatments like choosing new footwear or casting for custom orthotics, can be done during your appointment. Custom orthotics take 3 weeks to manufacture and we’ll notify you as soon as they’re ready.
